Volunteering keeps our membership fees low while providing high quality local competition opportunities for our athletes. Annually, we expect all our families to volunteer at least 6 hours. We welcome all adults and high school athletes to get involved. Make the club yours…volunteer!


OCEAN HOSTED EVENTS - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Please support out athletes by being an event volunteer in 2024. And don’t worry if you have no experience, we will train you!

HOW TO REGISTER:

  • Click an event button below.

  • Select “Add Position(s)” to show the list of available volunteer roles.

  • Select one or more roles (if the times don’t conflict).

  • Enter your name and contact details.

  • Enter your athlete’s name in brackets beside your name.

    • This is how we register your volunteer hours.

    • If you have more than one athlete, enter just one name. Enter the same name for all events.

  • Submit!

Please EMAIL if you have questions or to make changes after you have registered. Although the minimum requirement is 6 hours (per family) for the year, please do not hesitate to do more! Thank you for volunteering!

MEET SCHEDULE

Now things are getting real! All our athletes will be in top form as they focus on summer championship glory. This meet will be loaded with high performing athletes in all age groups tweaking their form and testing their fitness for the final lap at the bell. Kicking off the summer under the warm glow of the July sun is a great way to spend the evening. Grab your hat and sunglasses and help us host a great warm up meet for our athletes.

MEET SCHEDULE

This is the BIG ONE! We need all hands on deck to make this 3-day meet the best yet for our Junior Development athletes. With JDs travelling to our home from all parts of BC, we want to give our guests a great experience by hosting a championship event that is well run, welcoming and offers great competition. And, being on the last weekend of July, the chances of having some fun in the sun are very good!

Don’t miss our last hosted track & field meet of the season. This is a low key meet focused on giving our high school athletes bound for Legions in Calgary one last opportunity to practice their skills and show off a little for the home crowd! A warm summer evening at the track is hard to beat!


LOCATION: Crescent Park, South Surrey

MEET SCHEDULE

There is nothing better than spending a beautiful September day in Crescent Park! After an exciting season on the track, it’s time for our athletes to run outside the lines. Please, help us make our annual Festival of Cross Country the best stop during the Lower Mainland Cross Country Series!


MEET VOLUNTEER ROLES:

Throws: Javelin, Hammer, Shot Put and Javelin - callup & recording, measurement, tape pulling in & out of field

Pole Vault: pit setup and takedown, managing the pit & bar, callup & recording

Long/Triple Jump - volunteer tasks are i) tape puller (pulling the tape past the takeoff board in line with the landing spot so that the official can get a clean reading at the board ii) in the pit - placing the marker at the first point of contact in the sand iii) recorder  iv) Raker - best to have 2 people do this job - it is hard work  v) wind gauge when it is midget and older athletes.  Usually we have 2 pits running simultaneously.  

High Jump -  replacing knocked off bar, helping in the raising of the bar - 2 people are required for this task.  Usually we have 2 HJ pits going simultaneously.

Hurdle Crew -  6 -8 members to place and adjust sprint, intermediate and steeplechase hurdles.  This team is required to work quickly and efficiently to ensure the hurdle events proceed quickly and smoothly.

Track - tasks include ensuring starting blocks are placed and moved efficiently between the various start lines, placing and removal of cut in cones used in 800m, 4x400 relay, 3000m, relay zone judges, lap counting of distance races, marshalling of athletes, accompanying athletes to relay exchange zones.

Registration - distribution of athlete bib numbers, collection of late entry fee and athlete information*, dissemination of information (where is the washroom/marshalling tent/medical etc)  This position requires the team to be in place 90minutes before the first event and stay for the first couple of hours of the event.

Setup and Cleanup - if our events are to be successful, all equipment must be set up and ready to go at least 90 minutes before the first event, and then put away at the end of the meet in an orderly fashion. Setup requires a minimum of 2.5 hours depending upon the size of the meet.
